Segway vs NAVEE vs Hiboy: how their commuter electric scooters compare

Three popular commuter brands, three different ideas of what a daily electric scooter should be. Here is how their lineups compare, family by family.

Published Oct 7, 20267 min read

The short answer

Segway vs Hiboy vs NAVEE comes down to what you value most. Hiboy has the lightest and simplest commuters, with solid tire and seat options, but most of its S2 family carries riders up to 220 pounds. Segway adds traction control and Apple Find My on most models and self-sealing tires on many, with water ratings up to IPX6. NAVEE offers many long range models at 20 mph, most with suspension and Apple Find My. Choose the model that fits your weight, roads and distance, then the brand.

  • Hiboy: the lightest models, solid tire and seat options, IPX4, and a 220 pound limit on most S2 models.
  • Segway: traction control and Apple Find My on most models, self-sealing tires on many, and up to IPX6.
  • NAVEE: plenty of 20 mph long range models with suspension, traction control and Apple Find My.
  • Each lineup runs from light commuters to heavier long range models, so compare models, not logos.

The three lineups at a glance

All three brands build commuter electric scooters from just over 30 pounds to the mid 50s, plus faster models beyond that. This guide sticks to the commuter models we carry:

Each brand page shows the full range, including faster models: Hiboy, Segway and NAVEE.

Weight

  • Hiboy has the lightest commuters of the three. The S2R Plus weighs 31.5 lbs, the S2 Nova 34.5 lbs and the S2 35.49 lbs. Even the long range S2 MAX is 40 lb.
  • Segway sits in the middle. The E2 Plus II weighs 36.2 lbs, the F2 37.9 lbs, the E3 Pro 40.1 lbs and the F3 42.3 lbs. The Max G2, Max G3 and Max G3 Plus run from 53.5 to 56 lbs.
  • NAVEE splits in two. The V25, V25 Pro and V40i weigh 37 to 39 lbs. The G5 and GT3 families start at about 46 lbs, and the ST3 Pro reaches 55.8 lbs.

If you carry it up stairs or onto a train every day, every pound counts. See commuter electric scooters for how to judge it.

Tires

This is the clearest difference between the three brands.

  • Hiboy offers every option. The S2, S2 Pro and KS4 Pro use honeycomb solid tires that never go flat. The S2 Nova and S2 SE pair a solid front tire with an air-filled rear. The S2R Plus has 9-inch air tires, and the S2 MAX and MAX Pro have self-healing tires.
  • Segway uses air tires on almost every commuter: 10-inch tubeless on the E2 Pro and E3 Pro, 10-inch self-sealing tubeless on the F2, 10-inch self-sealing on the F3 and Max G2, and 11-inch self-sealing on the Max G3 and Max G3 Plus. The E2 Plus II is the exception, with 8.1-inch flat-free hollow tires.
  • NAVEE uses 10-inch air tires across its commuters: pneumatic on the V25, V25 Pro and V40i, tubeless on the G5 and GT3 families and the GT5 Max, and self-sealing tubeless on the ST3 and ST3 Pro.

Solid tires save you from flats but ride harder. Air tires ride and grip better but need regular pressure checks. Read solid vs air filled tires and our tire pressure guide.

Suspension and brakes

  • NAVEE fits suspension to the G5, GT3, ST3 and GT5 Max families: a front fork with a rear arm or damping cylinder, or dual damping arms on the ST3. Brakes pair a front drum with a rear electronic brake, plus a rear disc on the ST3 and GT5 Max. The V40i has a disc brake with E-ABS.
  • Segway fits front and rear elastomer suspension to the E3 Pro, front hydraulic and rear elastomer to the F3, front hydraulic and rear dual spring to the Max G2, and hydraulic front and rear to the Max G3 and G3 Plus. The F2 has none. Brakes run from a front drum with a rear electronic brake on the E2 Pro and E3 Pro to front and rear discs on the Max G3 and piston discs on the G3 Plus.
  • Hiboy fits rear suspension to the S2, S2 Pro, S2 Nova and KS4 Pro, front and rear to the MAX Pro, and none to the S2 SE and S2 MAX. Brakes pair an electronic brake with a disc on the S2 and S2R Plus, a rear disc on the KS4 Pro, and drums on the S2 SE and MAX Pro.

Suspension matters most on cracked streets and with solid tires. For the bigger picture, read how to choose an electric scooter.

Water rating, tracking and apps

  • Water rating. Every Hiboy commuter lists IPX4. NAVEE lists IPX5 on most models and IP55 on the V40i. Segway ranges from IPX4 on the E2 Pro and E2 Plus II to IPX5 on the F2, E3 Pro and Max G2, and IPX6 on the F3, Max G3 and Max G3 Plus. See riding in rain and winter for what each rating means.
  • Tracking. Segway lists Apple Find My on the E2 Pro, F2, E3 Pro, F3 and Max models. NAVEE lists Apple Find My on the G5, GT3, ST3 and GT5 Max families, and a hidden AirTag slot on the V25 Pro and V40i.
  • Traction control. Segway lists TCS on the E2 Pro, F2, F3 and Max models, and NAVEE on the G5, GT3, ST3 and GT5 Max families. It helps stop the drive wheel spinning on wet or loose ground.
  • Apps. NAVEE lists its app on the V25, V25 Pro and V40i. Segway uses its app to unlock High Speed on the Max G3. Hiboy lists app sync on the S2 Nova, so check each Hiboy page for app features.
  • Turn signals. The Segway F2, E3 Pro and Max G2 and the NAVEE V40i and G5 family list turn signals.

Rider weight limits

Check the maximum load first if you weigh over 200 pounds. Most Hiboy S2 models list 220 lbs, and the MAX Pro 265 lbs. Most Segway and NAVEE commuters list 265 lbs, and the Segway Max G3, Max G3 Plus and NAVEE GT5 Max list 286 lbs. The lighter models list less: 198 lbs on the Segway E2 Plus II, 220 lbs on the NAVEE V25 Pro and 243 lbs on the NAVEE GT3. More in electric scooters for heavy adults.

Segway vs Hiboy vs NAVEE, side by side

The table shows the makers figures for a cross section of each lineup. Remember that range figures come from gentle test riding. NAVEE quotes its G5 and GT3 ranges at about 9 mph and Segway quotes the F3 in ECO mode, so expect less on a real commute. Our range guide explains why.

Maker figures, checked September 2026. Real range and speed depend on rider weight, terrain, temperature and riding mode.

Which brand suits you

  • Choose Hiboy if light weight and low upkeep come first. You get solid tire options, a removable battery on the S2R Plus, and seat saddles for most of the S2 family. It suits shorter trips and riders under 220 pounds.
  • Choose Segway if you want traction control, Find My tracking and higher water ratings, or quick charging: the Max G3 charges in about 3.5 hours, and the Max G3 Plus has a built-in 209W fast charger.
  • Choose NAVEE if you want long range at a steady 20 mph with suspension, or a light V-series model with the NAVEE app.
