Eleven Segway models in five families. Here is how the E-series, F-series, Max, ZT3 Pro and GT3 differ, and which one fits the riding you actually do.
The short answer
The Segway electric scooter lineup we carry runs from the 36.2 lb E2 Plus II at 15.5 mph to the dual motor GT3 Pro at about 50 mph. For first rides and short trips, the E2 Plus II, E2 Pro and E3 Pro keep it simple. For daily commuting, the F2, F3 and Max G2 add traction control and self-sealing tires. The Max G3 and Max G3 Plus step up to 11-inch tires, hydraulic suspension at both ends and a 286 lb load limit. The ZT3 Pro is the off-road model, and the GT3 and GT3 Pro are for experienced riders who want speed.
We carry eleven Segway electric scooters, and they sort into five families. Start with the family, then pick the model.

The E2 Plus II suits first-time riders and short hops, as long as you are under its 198 lb limit. The E3 Pro is the one to pick in this group if you want suspension at both ends and more than twice the listed range.
The F-series adds traction control (TCS) and self-sealing tires, which help most on wet streets and routes with debris.
Both list UL 2272 certification, as do the E2 Plus II and E2 Pro. If you ride in New York, our NYC street legal page shows which models meet the state and city rules.
The step from the G2 to the G3 is the big one. You go from 10-inch to 11-inch tires, from a front drum to disc brakes at both ends, from a 265 lb to a 286 lb load limit and from about 22 to about 28 mph, for less than a pound of extra weight. The G3 Plus adds a bigger battery and piston brakes for about 2 lbs more.
The ZT3 Pro is the Segway for gravel, dirt paths and broken pavement. It has a 1600W peak motor, 11-inch off-road tubeless tires with a knobby tread, dual front telescopic and rear spring suspension, 6 inches of ground clearance, and front and rear disc brakes. It reaches 24.9 mph, climbs grades up to 25% and lists up to 43.5 miles in ECO. It weighs 65.5 lbs and is rated IPX5.
Knobby tires grip on loose ground but feel busier on smooth pavement. Read off-road electric scooters for what to expect before you leave the road.
The GT3 Pro is a heavy, fast machine. At 117.1 lbs it is hard to lift, and at 50 mph you need a full face helmet and proper protective gear. Read the fastest electric scooters and check your state and city rules before you ride.
Segway quotes several of these ranges in ECO mode, so plan on less in everyday riding.
