The GT54 is a mini bike for smaller riders. The GT73 is a full size bike with two batteries and pedals. Each comes as a standard model, a Pro and a 15 mph Safety Edition.
The short answer
GT54 vs GT73 is mostly a size question. The GT54 is a mini bike with 14 and 12 inch wheels, a 27.2 in seat and a listed rider height of 4 ft 2 in to 5 ft 9 in. The GT73 is a full size bike with 19 inch wheels, two removable batteries, pedals and a listed rider height of 5 ft 5 in to 6 ft 3 in. Each Pro version moves to a 60V battery and more speed. Each Safety Edition keeps the battery and brakes but is factory-limited to 750 W and 15 mph.
Riding’times builds the GT line in two sizes, and each size comes in three versions. Choose the size first, then the power level.
The GT54 and GT73 are built for different bodies, so start with the rider.
The two ranges overlap between 5 ft 5 in and 5 ft 9 in. Riders in that band can fit either. The GT54 is lower and lighter, which helps a newer rider put both feet down. The GT73 carries more weight and goes much further on a charge. Our guide to electric dirt bike sizes shows how to check seat height against inseam.
Each Pro steps up to a 60V system, a 3,000 W peak motor and a 60V 40A controller. On paper, that adds 10 mph to the GT54’s top speed, and 9 mph to each of the GT73’s two figures.
The GT73 goes much further, thanks to its two batteries and pedals. Riding’times rates both the GT73 and GT73 Pro at 85 miles on the throttle, or 155 miles with pedal assist. The GT73 uses a cadence sensor, so the motor helps as you pedal.
For the GT54, Riding’times quotes up to 62 miles (100 km) as its maximum claim, and 60 miles in its spec list. The GT54 Pro is rated at up to 62 miles. All of these come from gentle testing, and real trail riding uses more energy, as our guide to electric dirt bike range explains.
Lights and signals are handy on a trail ride, but they do not make a bike road legal. Our guide to street legal electric dirt bikes explains why.
Each Safety Edition is factory-limited to 750 W and 15 mph. The rest of the bike stays the same: the battery, suspension, hydraulic brakes, lights, weight and rider height range.
They suit newer riders and anyone who wants a calmer bike with the same batteries and brakes as the standard models. A factory limit does not change how your state classes a bike, so check the rules where you plan to ride.
