A seat that comes with the electric scooter is matched to the deck and rear end from the factory, and the maker’s rider weight and range figures assume it. An add-on seat kit mounts to a stand-up deck and can be removed again, which is ideal if you want to stand some days and sit on others. Kits are model-specific; our seats and saddles page lists exactly which models each one fits.
Two wheels at the front (or two at the back) keep a three-wheel electric scooter upright when stopped and steadier at walking pace, which many riders value in traffic and at crossings. They are usually seated, wider than a two-wheeler, and take a little more room to store. Cornering feels different: you lean less and steer more, and it takes a few rides to feel natural.
Sitting changes how bumps reach you. A sprung seat post, rear suspension and air-filled tires matter more on a seated electric scooter than a stand-up one, because your legs are no longer absorbing the road. Check the seat height range against your inside leg; you should be able to put a foot down flat at a stop.
Seated electric scooters keep the deck, folding stem and light weight of an electric scooter; they are sold as electric scooters, not as road vehicles. Rules on where seated models may be ridden vary by state and city, so check locally.
