Past 50 mph, a seated ride is either a moped-style e-bike with pedals or a seated scooter without them. Here is how the fast ones in our catalog compare.
The short answer
A fast electric moped in our catalog is one of two things: a moped-style e-bike with pedals, such as the Phantom Cafe Max P20 at up to 52 mph or the WEPED F1 at about 50 mph, or a seated scooter without pedals, which runs from 50 mph on the NANROBOT N6 to about 100 mph on the WEPED Sonic S Expander. Choose on seat and fit, maximum load, folding, range and charging. At 50 mph and up, none of them fits the e-bike classes, so where you may ride depends on your state, and some are private land machines.
Our guide to the electric moped explained covers what the word means and the slower moped-style models. For the wider choice between the two shapes, read moped style e-bike vs electric scooter. This guide sticks to the fast end.

WEPED builds every one of its models to order, so they take longer to arrive. For the standing models at the same speeds, see our sibling guide to 80 mph electric scooters.
Sitting changes how a fast ride handles. Standing, your legs soak up bumps. Seated, the bumps come through the seat, so the suspension carries more of the work. Check the suspension listing as closely as the speed.
For slower seated scooters, read electric scooter with seat.
Pedals stretch range on the moped-style bikes. WEPED lists the F1 at about 75 miles on the throttle and about 124 miles with pedal assist, from a 2,016 Wh battery, and offers it with no charger, a 4A charger or a 15A charger. The Super Compo and miniGO PRO MAX list about 112 miles.
The Teewing X5 charges in 7 to 8 hours, or 4 to 6 hours on two chargers. Every range figure is a best case. Ridden near top speed, expect far less.
At this speed, a seated ride is outside the e-bike classes. In states that use them, the motor stops helping at 20 or 28 mph. A faster ride may be treated as a moped or motor vehicle, which can mean a license, registration, insurance and road equipment, or it may be legal only off-road. A seat, lights and turn signals do not make a ride road legal on their own.

This is general information, not legal advice. Check your state motor vehicle agency and your city rules before you buy. Wear a full face helmet, gloves, an armored jacket and boots on every ride at these speeds.

The moped-style e-bikes can. The WEPED F1 has pedals with a Shimano 7-speed. The seated scooters in this guide have no pedals.
Only if the maker says the model is built for a passenger and your local law allows it. A long seat alone does not make a ride safe for two.
