Eight scooters in our catalog list 70 to 87 mph. Here is how they differ in build, weight, seat and safe speed, and what riding in that tier really involves.
The short answer
An 80 mph electric scooter sits one step below the 100 mph hyper scooters. In our catalog, the WEPED Sonic X and Dark Sonic X list about 80 mph, and six more models list 70 to 87 mph: the seated WEPED Sonic Expander, the ESHINER Molo 5, the NANROBOT LS7+, the Hooga Daytona, the WEPED Dark Knight Cyber Fold and the WEPED FF2S. The WEPED models are built to order in Korea, and the other three ship from stock. Those that list a weight run from 101 to 353 lb, and every one is a private land or closed course machine for an experienced rider in motorcycle gear.
Eight scooters in our catalog list a top speed between 70 and 87 mph. They split cleanly into two groups: WEPED models built to order in Korea, and three models from other makers that ship from stock.
| Model | Top speed (mph) | Range (miles) | Motor power (W) |
|---|---|---|---|
| WEPED SONIC EXPANDER Electric Scooter | 87 | 124 | – |
| WEPED SONIC X Electric | 80 | 62 | – |
| WEPED DARK SONIC X Electric Scooter | 80 | 62 | – |
| WEPED Dark Knight Cyber Fold Electric Scooter | 71 | 75 | – |
| WEPED FF2S Electric Scooter | 70 | 68 | – |
Maker figures, checked September 2026. Real range and speed depend on rider weight, terrain, temperature and riding mode.
| Model | Top speed (mph) | Range (miles) | Motor power (W) |

| ESHINER Molo 5 Electric Scooter | 75 | 93 | 10,000 |
| NANROBOT LS7+ 72V Electric Scooter | 74.5 | 81 | 6,000 |
| Hooga Daytona 72V Electric Scooter | 72 | 40 | – |

For the three WEPED models that list about 100 mph, read the 100 mph electric scooter. For the wider group from 40 mph up, see the fastest electric scooter models.
The WEPED Sonic X and WEPED Dark Sonic X are the two models in our catalog that list about 80 mph. They share one platform: an 84V 50Ah Samsung battery (4,200 Wh), a frame CNC machined from POSCO 6061 aluminum, hydraulic dual 4-piston brakes up front with a 4-piston rear and an electronic brake, and oil shocks front and rear. WEPED lists about 62 miles of range for both.
The bigger tires are the real choice here. A 16-inch tire rolls over broken pavement and ruts more easily than a 13-inch one, for 6 lb more weight. Both sit in the $9,000 to $11,000 band.
Read the safe-speed limit, not only the top speed. WEPED lists a safe-speed limit of about 75 mph for both the Sonic X and the Dark Sonic X, and about 62 mph for the FF2S. That is the speed WEPED suggests you plan around.
These three ship from stock, and each takes a different route to 72 mph and up.
The Daytona listing shows what speed does to range. Hooga rates it at up to 40 miles flat out and 80 miles in ideal conditions. Riding near the top of this tier roughly halves what the battery gives you, so plan sessions, not long trips.
Being built to order, every WEPED takes longer to arrive than a scooter from the shelf, as its product page says. Browse the full lineup on our WEPED electric scooters page.
Speed grows the stakes faster than it grows the number. A few rough figures, using plain physics rather than any maker test:
That is why the safe-speed figure, the brakes and the tires matter more than the headline. Check tire pressure, brake feel and every bolt before each session, and replace worn tires and pads early.
In many places, nowhere public. Many states and cities cap electric scooters at 15 to 20 mph or define them by a top speed and weight that these models far exceed. New York State, for example, defines an electric scooter as weighing under 100 lb with a top speed of 20 mph or less on the motor, so every model in this guide falls outside that definition.
Plan to ride on private land with the owner’s permission or on a closed course that allows electric scooters. Read electric scooter laws: what to check before you ride before you buy.
This is general information, not legal advice. Rules change often. Check your state motor vehicle agency and your city website for the current rules where you plan to ride.
None of these is a first scooter, or even a second one. Build up through slower models, then learn an 80 mph machine in its lowest mode on a closed surface. Raise the power only when hard stops, lane changes and tight turns feel automatic at the current setting.
Wear motorcycle gear on every ride: a full face motorcycle helmet, an armored jacket or suit, gloves, armored pants and boots. Our electric scooter safety gear guide covers what to look for.

In many places, no. Its speed and often its weight put it outside the legal definition of an electric scooter, so it may be legal only on private land or a closed course. Check your state and city rules.
It is a figure WEPED publishes below the top speed: about 75 mph for the Sonic X and Dark Sonic X, and about 62 mph for the FF2S. Plan your riding around it rather than the headline.
Less than the headline at speed. Hooga rates the Daytona at up to 40 miles flat out against 80 miles in ideal conditions, and the same pattern applies to every model here.

Three wheels mean no balancing at a stop, a seat and room for shopping. They also mean a wider, heavier machine that corners differently. Here is how to decide.
