Surron Light Bee X vs Ultra Bee vs Hyper Bee: which Bee to buy

Three Bees, three sizes. Here is how the Hyper Bee, Light Bee X and Ultra Bee HP SW compare on power, battery, weight, fit and price band, and which rider each one suits.

Published Oct 9, 20268 min read

The short answer

Surron Light Bee X vs Ultra Bee comes down to size and experience, and the Hyper Bee adds a smaller option below both. The Hyper Bee is the mini and pit size Bee for teens and youth, with 40 mph on the 2026 version (34 mph on the 2025), an 86 lb curb weight and a 121 lb max load. The Light Bee X is the all-rounder: 8 kW peak, 46.6 mph, a removable 60V 40Ah battery and a 125.6 lb curb weight. The Ultra Bee HP SW is for experienced full-size riders: 24.5 kW, 384 ft-lb, 59 mph and a 74V 60Ah battery rated for 71 miles at 31 mph, in a 195 lb bike.

  • The Hyper Bee is the mini and pit size Bee, made for teens and youth, with a 121 lb max load.
  • The Light Bee X is the light full-size all-rounder at 125.6 lb, with a removable 60V 40Ah battery.
  • The Ultra Bee HP SW makes about three times the Light Bee X’s peak power and weighs about 69 lb more.
  • Each Bee sits in its own price band: $2,000 to $3,000, $3,000 to $4,000, and $6,000 to $7,000.

Three Bees, three sizes

Surron (also written Sur-Ron) builds its electric dirt bikes in clear size steps, and we carry three of them. They are not three trims of one bike. Each one fits a different rider.

  • Surron Hyper Bee: the mini and pit size Bee, with 14 and 12 inch wheels, in two versions: the 2026 with a 58V 22Ah battery, 40 mph and up to 35 miles at 25 mph, and the 2025 with a 50.4V 25Ah battery, 34 mph and up to 31 miles. It is listed for teens and youth.
  • Surron Light Bee X: the light full-size trail bike, with an 8 kW peak motor, a removable 60V 40Ah battery, 46.6 mph and 46.6 miles at about 25 mph.
  • Surron Ultra Bee HP SW: the high power full-size bike, with 24.5 kW, 384 ft-lb, a 74V 60Ah battery, 59 mph and 71 miles at 31 mph.

Spec sheet: Hyper Bee, Light Bee X and Ultra Bee

Every figure below comes from our three product pages. Each line reads Hyper Bee, then Light Bee X, then Ultra Bee HP SW.

  • Peak power: 8 kW on the 2026 Hyper Bee (5 kW on the 2025), 8 kW, and 24.5 kW.
  • Torque: not listed for the Hyper Bee, 196 ft-lb (250 Nm at the wheel), and 384 ft-lb.
  • Top speed: 40 mph, 46.6 mph, and 59 mph.
  • Range: 35 miles at 25 mph, 46.6 miles at about 25 mph, and 71 miles at 31 mph.
  • Battery: 58V 22Ah on the 2026 Hyper Bee (50.4V 25Ah on the 2025), 60V 40Ah with 21700 cells (removable), and 74V 60Ah lithium-ion.
  • Charge time, 20% to 80%: 2 hours, 2 hours, and 2.5 hours.
  • Curb weight: 86 lb, 125.6 lb, and 195 lb.
  • Max load: 121 lb, 220 lb, and 220 lb.
  • Seat height: listed only for the Light Bee X, at 830 mm (about 32.7 in).
  • Tires: 60/100-14 front and 70/100-12 rear; 70/100-19 front and 3.00-18 rear; 80/100-19 front and 100/90-18 rear. All are off-road tires.
  • Price band: $2,000 to $3,000, $3,000 to $4,000, and $6,000 to $7,000.

On paper, the 2026 Hyper Bee and the Light Bee X share an 8 kW peak figure. What separates them is size: the Light Bee X carries a battery with nearly twice the energy (about 2,400 Wh against 1,276 Wh, volts times amp hours), full-size wheels and a much higher max load.

Price bands, and what the extra money buys

Every Bee costs more than $2,000, and each step up buys a different bike, not just more speed. Current prices are on each product page.

  • Hyper Bee, $2,000 to $3,000: the entry Surron. You get Surron build quality in a mini and pit size frame that weighs 86 lb. It is the smaller bike, not a cut-down Light Bee X.
  • Light Bee X, $3,000 to $4,000: the step to a full-size frame. The extra money buys 19 and 18 inch wheels, a removable battery with nearly twice the energy, 196 ft-lb of torque, 200 mm of front travel, a forged aluminium frame and a 220 lb max load.
  • Ultra Bee HP SW, $6,000 to $7,000: the big jump. It buys about three times the Light Bee X’s peak power, nearly double the torque, a 74V 60Ah battery (about 4,440 Wh) and 0 to 31 mph in 1.84 seconds. It also buys about 69 lb more bike to hold up, turn and load.

The step from the Light Bee X to the Ultra Bee is the biggest in both money and machine. It pays off for riders who already handle a light bike with full control. For everyone else, the Light Bee X is where the value sits in this lineup.

Sizing: rider height, weight and seat height

Fit matters more than power. Start with the numbers you can check. Our listings give the bike weight and max load for all three Bees, and a seat height for the Light Bee X. They do not give a rider height range, so measure the rider against the bike.

  • Hyper Bee: mini and pit size (16 inch wheels or smaller in our shop filters), listed for teens and youth. Its 121 lb max load is the hard limit, so weigh the rider in their gear before you choose it.
  • Light Bee X: full size, listed for adults, with an 830 mm seat (about 32.7 in) and a 220 lb max load.
  • Ultra Bee HP SW: full size, listed for adults, with a 220 lb max load. Our listing gives no seat height, so ask us before you order if seat height decides it.

The usual fit test: seated, the rider should reach the ground with at least the balls of both feet. Bike weight matters too. An 86 lb Hyper Bee is far easier to pick up after a fall, push and load than a 195 lb Ultra Bee. Our guide to electric dirt bike sizes shows how to measure.

Off-road only: where you can ride a Surron

None of the three Surron models we carry is sold as road legal, and the Ultra Bee HP SW is listed for off-road use only. Ride them on private land with the owner’s permission, at riding parks and tracks, and on trails open to off-road motorcycles. Rules, permits and age limits vary by state and by land manager, so check before you go.

Our guide on where to ride electric dirt bikes covers the options. If you want one bike for trail and street, read street legal electric dirt bikes first: the road legal models in our catalog are Talaria Stings, compared in our Talaria lineup guide.

Gear first, every ride. A helmet, goggles, gloves, boots and body protection matter as much on a Hyper Bee as on an Ultra Bee. All three are real dirt bikes.

Which Surron should you buy?

  • Choose the Hyper Bee for a younger or smaller rider who is ready for more than a kids bike and fits under its 121 lb max load.
  • Choose the Light Bee X if you are an adult who is new to electric dirt bikes or comes back to them after a break, ride tight trails, or want the removable battery. It is the all-rounder of the three.
  • Choose the Ultra Bee HP SW if you already ride a light bike with confidence, want the most power and range of the Surrons we carry, and can handle a 195 lb bike.

A common path runs through all three: the Hyper Bee while a rider is small, the Light Bee X once they fit a full-size frame, and the Ultra Bee only after they ride a light bike with full control.

Questions riders ask

How much is a Surron Light Bee X?

The Light Bee X sits in the $3,000 to $4,000 price band in our store. The Light Bee X product page shows the current price, and orders ship free to the lower 48 states.

How fast is the Surron Hyper Bee?

Our Hyper Bee page lists 40 mph and up to 35 miles at 25 mph from a 58V 22Ah battery for the 2026 version, and 34 mph and up to 31 miles for the 2025. That is a real dirt bike speed, so a young rider needs full gear and a place to ride off the road.

Is the Ultra Bee worth it over the Light Bee X?

For an experienced rider, it can be. The Ultra Bee HP SW makes 24.5 kW against 8 kW peak, 384 ft-lb against 196 ft-lb, and is rated for 71 miles at 31 mph against 46.6 miles at about 25 mph. It also weighs 195 lb against 125.6 lb and sits two price bands higher. Newer riders are better served by the Light Bee X.

Which Surron is right for a teenager?

It depends on size and experience. The Hyper Bee is the Bee listed for teens and youth, and it suits riders under its 121 lb max load. The Light Bee X and Ultra Bee HP SW are both listed for adults.

No. None of the three Surron models we carry is sold as road legal, and the Ultra Bee HP SW is listed for off-road use only. Ride on private land with permission, at parks and tracks, or on trails open to off-road motorcycles, and check your state rules.
