Every pound counts on a staircase. These are the lightest electric bikes we carry by listed weight, and what each one trades away to get there.
The short answer
A lightweight electric bike in our catalog weighs about 46 to 55 lb. By listed weight, the lightest are the folding NANROBOT N1 20-Inch at 46.3 lb, the folding Phantom P14 at 46.6 lb and the Gyroor EB262 mountain bike at 49 lb. No e-bike we carry that lists a weight comes in under 45 lb, because the motor and battery add weight to any frame. Less weight usually means a smaller battery, smaller wheels or a lower maximum load, so choose the trade off that suits your stairs, trunk or train.
Most electric bikes weigh 50 to 80 pounds, and fat tire, cargo and moped-style models go well past that. The listed weights in our catalog run from 46.3 lb for the NANROBOT N1 20-Inch to 146.4 lbs for the Segway Xyber. In this guide, lightweight means about 55 lb or less.
That is still far heavier than a regular bicycle or a light electric scooter. The motor, battery and stronger frame all add weight. If you need something you can carry with one hand, an electric scooter may suit you better: our lightweight electric scooter picks start under 30 lb.
These are listed by weight, lightest first.

Maker figures, checked September 2026. Real range and speed depend on rider weight, terrain, temperature and riding mode.
Add a few pounds and you get more battery, bigger tires or more gears.
Past 70 lb, you reach models like the folding Hiboy EX6F at 71.43 lb and the Segway MUXI and Myon at 72.75 lbs each. Those suit riders with ground floor storage or an elevator.
Four of the six lightest e-bikes we stock fold: the NANROBOT N1, Phantom P14, Gyroor C33 and Hiboy C1, all at 50.1 lb or less. Folding does not cut the weight, but it makes a bike easier to fit in a trunk, a closet or a train.
The Teewing T20 takes a different route to a lighter ride: a carbon fiber frame and fork, a Gates carbon belt instead of a chain, a 250W rear hub motor with a torque sensor and a choice of 36V 7Ah or 9.6Ah battery. Teewing does not list a weight for it on our listing, so ask us if the number decides it for you.
Our guide to folding electric bikes covers folded sizes, latches and transit rules in detail.
A lighter bike almost always carries less of something. Know which trade off you are making:
The Speedway Riders Q3 is the exception on battery size. At 53 lbs it carries a 960Wh battery, larger than that of several far heavier bikes, and it lists 45 miles. Its trade offs are a 220 lbs maximum load and a rider height of 5 ft 6 in and up.
Light bikes with smaller motors also work harder on steep climbs. If your route is hilly, read our sibling guide to choosing an electric bike for hills.
Start with where you will carry it, then pick the lightest bike that still covers your ride. For stairs or a train every day, look at the NANROBOT N1, Phantom P14, Gyroor C33 and Hiboy C1. For a light bike with a big battery, look at the Speedway Riders Q3. For light trails, look at the Gyroor EB262.

The lightest models we stock weigh about 46 to 55 lb. Most electric bikes weigh 50 to 80 lb, and fat tire, cargo and moped-style models weigh more.
Usually. Most of the lightest models carry smaller batteries and list 20 to 40 miles. The Speedway Riders Q3 is an exception, with a 960Wh battery at 53 lbs.
Not by itself. Folding makes a bike smaller, not lighter. The lightest folders we stock still weigh 46 to 51 lb.
Take the battery out first, fold the bike if it folds, and lift by the frame near the middle. Roll it on the rear wheel where you can.
