Tall riders end up hunched over a low handlebar or squeezed onto a short deck. Here are the four figures that fix the fit, and the models we stock that publish them.
The short answer
An electric scooter for tall riders needs four things: a handlebar high enough to stand upright, a deck long enough for a staggered stance, a maximum load with room to spare and wheels of 10 inches or more. Few makers publish handlebar height. In our catalog, the INMOTION S1F lists a 50.2 in handlebar, the DriveTron Nova a 49.8 in overall height with a 20.7 x 8.6 in deck, and the KUKIRIN G4 a 20.1 x 8.7 in deck on 11-inch tires.
On an electric scooter sized for an average rider, a tall rider ends up bent at the waist with stiff arms, or standing with both feet side by side. Both make steering twitchy and braking less steady, because your weight sits high and forward over a short base.
Four figures fix most of that: handlebar height, deck size, maximum load and wheel size. This guide covers each one, using only the figures the makers publish, then lists our picks.
You want to stand upright with a slight bend in your elbows. For many riders that puts the grips somewhere near waist height. Measure from the floor to your waist in your riding shoes, then compare it with the listed handlebar height.
Few makers publish that figure. Here is what our catalog lists:
Skip models built for smaller riders. The Hiboy S2 Lite, for example, lists a recommended rider height of 3 ft 7 in to 5 ft 7 in.
Never raise a stem with parts the maker did not design for it. Extenders and spacers change how the stem carries load and can loosen the folding latch. If a scooter is too short for you, choose a taller one.
A tall rider has longer feet and a longer natural stance. A long deck lets you ride with one foot behind the other, which is steadier under braking than standing side by side. These are the deck sizes the makers list:
Width helps with big shoes too. Where the maker lists width only, the INMOTION S1F has a 7.1 in deck and the NANROBOT X10 a 7.87 in deck.
Height usually brings weight, and the maximum load covers you plus your bag or backpack. Leave a margin: a scooter ridden near its limit climbs slower, brakes longer and wears faster.
If you are both tall and heavy, read electric scooters for heavy adults and our picks of the best electric scooters for heavy riders, which cover models rated for 330 and 440 pounds.
A tall rider carries the center of gravity higher, so small wheels that catch on cracks and potholes feel worse. Treat 10-inch tires as a sensible minimum. The KUKIRIN G4 rolls on 11-inch tubeless tires, and the KUKIRIN G2 family on 10-inch tires.
Ground clearance keeps a long deck from scraping on curbs and ramps. The KUKIRIN G4 lists 7 in, the G2 Master and G3 Pro 7.1 in, the G2 6.9 in and the YUME XTRON 8.1 in. Suspension at both ends, which every pick below has, also helps keep the ride calm.
Each pick lists a handlebar height, an overall height or a deck size, plus its maximum load. Speeds vary widely, so match the model to your experience.

Aim for grips near your waist when you stand on the deck, so you can ride upright with slightly bent elbows. Measure your waist height in riding shoes and compare it with the listed handlebar or overall height. The INMOTION S1F lists 50.2 in and the DriveTron Nova an overall height of 49.8 in.
They help, as long as the top setting is high enough. The Nanrobot T1, NANROBOT G1, iENYRID ES1 and KUKIRIN G2 Max each offer three heights. The makers do not list the heights, so ask us before you order.
Not because of height alone. Weight and hills decide how much motor you need. A tall rider of average weight on flat roads can ride a single motor model such as the INMOTION S1F. If you are also heavy or your route is hilly, look at more power.
It can be, if the seat goes high enough. The Gyroor C1 Plus lists riders up to 6 ft 5 in and a seat height of 27 to 33 in. Check the listed rider height range before you order.
