Makers publish an age range and a maximum rider weight for each kids’ electric dirt bike, and we show both exactly as given. Height matters as much as age: a child should sit on the seat with feet flat or nearly flat on the ground and reach the handlebars without leaning. A first electric dirt bike should be the smaller of two options that fit; confidence comes faster on one the child can hold up easily. Experience counts too. A child who has ridden a balance bike or pedal bike will pick up an electric dirt bike quickly; a complete beginner does better starting on the lowest speed setting for several sessions.
Every model here is rated at 20 mph or less, and most have two or three modes with the lowest around 5–8 mph. On some models the mode is set with a key or a switch the child cannot reach while riding; the product page says how each one works. Training wheels, where the maker offers them, help the youngest riders.
A properly fitted helmet is essential on every ride; a motocross-style helmet with goggles is best on dirt. Add gloves, knee and elbow pads and sturdy shoes or boots. See helmets and protective gear. Ride only on private land or where kids’ electric bikes are permitted, always with an adult watching.
Use the supplied charger, charge on a hard surface where an adult can see it, and unplug when full. Run time varies with the rider’s weight, the terrain and the speed mode, and is listed on each product page.
Each maker states its own age range, which we show on the product page. The models on this page are sold for children under 13; the youngest start around age 3 with the smallest models.
Every model here is rated at 20 mph or less, and beginners should start in the lowest mode, typically 5–8 mph. Unlock faster modes only as skill grows.
