Choosing a bag that fits your ride

For an electric scooter, a front storage bag is the practical choice. It sits on the handlebars or stem, keeps weight low and central, and leaves the deck clear for your feet. Make sure it will not press on the brake levers or block the display, and that its straps can close around your bar or stem diameter. A waterproof roll-top or zip keeps a charger dry in the rain.

For an e-bike, a pannier gives far more room and keeps weight off your back. It needs a rear rack: check the rail diameter and the distance between the rack rails and the wheel so the bag clears the tire and your heel. If your e-bike has no rack, a handlebar bag works there too.

Carrying a charger

Most electric scooter chargers fit a handlebar bag with room to spare, which makes charging at work easy. Keep the charger in its own pocket away from keys and tools so the connector stays clean.

Packing for the ride

Keep heavy items low and central so the handlebars stay light to steer, and put the things you reach for most, such as a phone and keys, in the outer pocket. On a pannier, pack the heavier side toward the frame and clip the lid closed before every ride. A bag that swings or shifts changes how an electric scooter or e-bike handles, so tighten the straps until nothing moves.

Care

Empty and dry the bag after wet rides, and check the straps and hooks now and then for wear. Reflective panels, where fitted, help you be seen after dark. Store the bag off the ride when you park outside; a bag is an easy target and takes seconds to remove.
