💡Register Your Warranty After Delivery: Many manufacturers require warranty registration within 30 days of purchase to activate full coverage. Check the documentation included in your box for registration instructions. If your brand requires online registration, we can help guide you through it — just call or text us.
How to File a Warranty Claim:
Filing a warranty claim with Speedway Riders is straightforward. You don’t have to contact the manufacturer directly — we handle that for you as your authorized dealer and advocate. Here’s the complete process from start to resolution.
What You’ll Need to Provide
Proof of Purchase
Your Speedway Riders order number or confirmation email. This verifies your purchase date, which determines warranty eligibility and coverage period.
Photos or Video
Clear photos or a short video demonstrating the issue. Video is strongly preferred for mechanical and electronic defects as it speeds up manufacturer review significantly.
Written Description
A detailed written explanation of the defect — what happens, when it happens, how often, and whether it appeared immediately or over time. The more detail, the faster we resolve it.
The Claim Process — Step by Step
Contact Speedway Riders
Email info@speedwayridersnyc.com or call/text (203) 939-7170. Include your order number and a brief description of the issue. Do not contact the manufacturer directly — we handle this for you.
Initial Review
Our team reviews your claim within 24–48 hours. We may ask for additional photos, video, or troubleshooting steps. Many issues can be resolved at this stage without a full manufacturer claim.
Manufacturer Submission
If the issue requires a manufacturer claim, we submit all documentation on your behalf. We follow up with the manufacturer and keep you updated — you don't need to do anything further at this stage.
Resolution
The manufacturer determines resolution: replacement part, full unit replacement, or repair. We coordinate delivery or service and confirm with you once everything is complete.
What’s NOT Covered:
Manufacturer warranties cover defects in materials and workmanship — not damage caused by use, misuse, accidents, or neglect. Understanding these exclusions helps you protect your warranty and maintain your ride properly.
Normal Wear & Tear
Tires, inner tubes, brake pads, and brake rotors are consumable components that wear naturally with use. These are not covered under any manufacturer warranty and should be replaced as part of regular maintenance.
Accident & Impact Damage
Any damage resulting from a collision, fall, jump, or any impact — regardless of severity — is not covered. This includes bent frames, cracked decks, damaged wheels, and electronic faults caused by the impact.
Unauthorized Modifications
Modifying your scooter or e-bike in any way — including firmware unlocking, motor or battery upgrades, or third-party hardware — will void your manufacturer warranty entirely. Only use OEM parts and accessories.
Water Damage Beyond IP Rating
All scooters have a rated IP (ingress protection) level. Riding through deep puddles, in heavy rain, or submerging the scooter beyond its rated water resistance voids all water-related warranty claims.
Overloading (Exceeding Max Weight)
Exceeding the manufacturer's specified maximum rider weight limit can damage the frame, motor, battery, and suspension. Any damage resulting from overloading is not covered and will be identified during inspection.
Improper Storage & Battery Neglect
Storing your scooter in extreme temperatures, leaving the battery fully discharged for extended periods, or using non-approved chargers can permanently damage the battery pack — none of which is covered under warranty.
Third-Party Repairs
Having your scooter repaired or serviced by a non-authorized technician before or during a warranty claim will typically void the warranty. Always contact Speedway Riders first — we'll coordinate any necessary repairs through proper channels.
Cosmetic Damage
Scratches, scuffs, paint chips, and other cosmetic damage from regular use are not covered by warranty. We recommend protective decals or cases for riders who want to maintain their scooter's appearance over time.
🚫 Voiding Your Warranty:
A warranty claim may be denied if inspection by the manufacturer reveals evidence of any excluded cause. If you are unsure whether an action might affect your warranty, call us before doing it. We’d much rather spend 5 minutes answering a question than see you lose your coverage.
// Common Questions
Warranty FAQ
Absolutely. Speedway Riders ships to all lower 48 states and your manufacturer warranty is fully valid wherever you are in the United States. Your warranty is tied to the product and the purchase date — not your location. We’ve processed warranty claims for customers in California, Texas, Florida, and every other state.
It depends on the brand. Some manufacturers (like Segway and Hiboy) require online registration within 30 days of purchase to activate full warranty coverage. Others activate automatically from the purchase date. Your product box will include warranty registration instructions. If you’re unsure, contact us and we’ll check the requirements for your specific model.
A return (within 14 days of delivery) is for any reason — you changed your mind, the model isn’t right for you, etc. A warranty claim is for manufacturing defects that appear during normal use, and can be filed any time within the warranty period — which often extends 6–12 months beyond our return window. If your scooter develops a fault at month 5, that’s a warranty claim, not a return.
Warranty transferability varies by manufacturer. Most manufacturers tie the warranty to the original purchaser, meaning it does not transfer to a second owner. Some brands (fewer) allow warranty transfer with documentation. If you’re buying or selling a used scooter, contact us and we’ll clarify the policy for that specific brand and model.
Contact us immediately — within 12 hours of delivery is ideal. A scooter that fails immediately upon delivery is treated as a DOA (Dead on Arrival) issue, which is handled with top priority. Don’t attempt to open or repair it. Send us a photo or short video and your order number, and we’ll initiate an expedited resolution — typically a replacement unit.
Battery degradation through normal use (gradual capacity loss over charge cycles) is not covered under warranty — this is expected behavior for lithium batteries. However, if the battery fails entirely, won’t charge, or drops dramatically in capacity well within the warranty period under normal use conditions, this may qualify as a manufacturing defect. Contact us with details and we’ll assess it.
For confirmed manufacturing defects, the manufacturer typically covers the cost of shipping replacement parts or units. If you’re required to ship your scooter in for inspection or repair, we’ll coordinate with the manufacturer about who covers that cost — and we advocate for the customer in these situations. We’ll always be transparent about any costs before you commit to anything.
Yes. Your order number or purchase confirmation is the primary document needed for a warranty claim — not the manual. Contact us and we’ll send you a digital copy of your model’s user manual. We have manuals for all brands and models we carry on file. Never let a missing manual stop you from reaching out.
